"PROGRESS & WELLBEING" RADIO SHOW
Progreso Community Center (PCC) and the Nashville Latino Health Coalition (NLHC) have led this pre-recorded radio show in Spanish since 2009. “Progress & Wellbeing” is broadcasted on Activa 1240AM, a widely popular Spanish-language AM station in the Nashville area.
The show airs on Sundays from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. The one-hour program covers a variety of themes related to the health and general well-being of the Hispanic community in Nashville. Using a recorded interview format, the weekly show features interviews with invited guests and community members who offer important information, answer questions and engage in dialogue with the listeners. It offers the opportunity to promote our organization’s activities in the Hispanic community in Nashville.
Dr. Juan Canedo, Executive Director of PCC and Chair of NLHC, and Dr. Pamela Hull, of Vanderbilt University, are the co-hosts of the program. Canedo and Hull are both sociologists with expertise in how family, community, culture, and society affect people’s health and behaviors. They have been working for several years on community-engaged research to reduce health disparities and inequities in the Hispanic community in Nashville.
